The police officer was suspicious from the start simply because he have a face compared to other faceless NPC in the lobby.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

As soon as I saw his face and fancy hair, I knew he was not to be trusted.

kaeyasupremacy • 1 year ago

FR he got such a good design from the rest of them lol

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

too fancy not to be a antagonist

For a second there I thought that was that Russian guy from season 3

Ya and Ranpo is not really the type to be fooled. Though he fooled himself that he was Gifted for a long time. I assume Ranpo is up to something. It's completely in his character.

vovan1 • 1 year ago

indeed, he probably picked up on the uniform error

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

chuunibyou >>>> high IQ

Kirito • 1 year ago

I laughed when rampo said those glassy look cheap and the boss was like yes he bought it on a flower shop was it lol

umus • 1 year ago

Welp looks like Ranpo is about to go to sleep rather he likes it or not

Kirito • 1 year ago

I think he knows that guy is the murderer just a guess

Serif Mango • 1 year ago

what made him really suspicious is how he as a cop treated a mere bodyguard

Zhang Qiling • 1 year ago

Same thought, and he is kinda good looking too, besides his odd energetic reactions to Ranpo's crap.

Kirito • 1 year ago

I thought that victim guy was the master of that guy

NatsuDragneel27 • 3 months ago

I also thought of that too since they are look a like.

Zhang Qiling • 1 year ago

You mean the dude with cane? If yes then no he isn't.

Scramler • 1 year ago

what if they want us to think like that because they made a whole episode in the "the most suspicious one is the culprit" style

Nojgrmare • 1 year ago

i thought it was Fyodor Dostoevsky when i first saw him

Albatroscy • 1 year ago

gawd same... I got a chill when I figured he returned...

YOSHIDA MAN • 11 months ago

Yet again I think Rampo knows something that we silly children don't know about. That "Mm-mm". It seems he knows that cop is cooking something up.

rayko • 1 year ago

thats normal even ranpo isnt a match to that guy the real mastermind is that guy

Mycroft • 1 year ago

Absolutely 😆. It's actually an anime rule: if he has a more detailed face compared to other background character, well that character have something in the plot. (KyoAni is an exemption though, even the background characters has a more detailed face/design/animation than MC in some anime).

sus based of how he moved

Kwarevo • 1 year ago

Ranpo flashback still continue.
Ranpo quickly solves any case.
He doesn't have much fun watching mystery series/movies

Meroko Yui • 1 year ago

This is true and reminds me of the Edgar Allen Poe versus Ranpo. Ranpo didn't mind it even though he stated how bad the detective novel was he was set up in. LoL.

shiki. • 1 year ago

the end was soo good. couldn't take off eyes from my screen! i love the usual bsd, but hardcore detective work was surely great to see!

Judgment526 • 1 year ago

Oh Ranpo, just because you were told to view everyone else as babies doesn't mean you have to openly advertise it. ^^;

Lord • 1 year ago

At least he does it seriously.

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

well that can be interpreted many ways too. depends on your headspace. baby could mean naive / ignorant, handle with care, just accept i'm gonna do dumb/ thoughtless things from time to time. really takes the sting out of bad behavior when you look at it that way

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

my favorite pose in yoga - happy baby pose

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

I thought Ranpo was just going along with Fukuzawa's lie, like I thought he would see through it but he seems to really believe in it? Or maybe he's allowing himself to believe it? Either way, it did open up Ranpo's world it seems so Fukuzawa did end up helping him with that lie.

I guess the other guy is the policeman that is escorting Ranpo, I wonder what Ranpo is going to do because it sounded like he was seeing through what was happening.

Meroko Yui • 1 year ago

For quite a bit of the anime he made himself believe he was Gifted but wasn't then more came to acceptance when dealing with Edgar Allen Poe. It more seemed he wanted to fit in with his Gifted co-workers. Tbh it's more made out that he's more special because he's just that brilliant without needing to be Gifted.

Lucy Heartfilia • 1 year ago

It's either:
1. Rampo is a kid so being told that the world doesn't hate him, the words that he always wanted to hear diverted his attention and made him focused on this new thought. This worked well especially since Rampo doesn't know what real gifted people are and thought being gifted means being different.
2. He's allowing himself to indulge in this fantasy, after all he is different from other people, he has supernatural powers. It's better to believe in this to somehow get closure for the bad things that have happened to him.

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

my thinking is that Fukuzawa didn't want Ranpo to end up hating the world

LesK • 1 year ago

unfortunately you're all running off false premises. it is called a paranoid persecution complex. it is a clinical term i'm well familiar with since i have it myself. Edogawa Rampo had it himself, the author and this character.

each person with this complex believes the world is out to get them, monsters surround them, and all the tragedy that has happened in their lives is a vast conspiracy involving all of existence. even a true ultimate genius can be deluded by false trails of logic and reasoning. this character truly did see everything except for one fact, he was insane and not mentally stable.

Fukuzawa did not lie in any way, he merely changed Rampo's perspective on reality and focused that genius in the correct direction. Fukuzawa showed Rampo that he was a genius, gifted, and that the entire world around him was filled with idiots. the people around him weren't monsters keeping a secret and conspiring against Rampo. the evidence Rampo had seen throughout his life led him to a conclusion that was false from the outset. or was a compounded series of events that led to the false conclusion later on. both are valid states of evolution for a victim of this mental disease.

paranoid persecution complex is one of the reasons 'chuunibio' or childhood self-delusions need to be monitored and curbed and behaviors and thought patterns need to be corrected. you shouldn't stifle the children's creative thought patterns. but, you should reinforce reality and the limitations of thought, body, reality, fiction, and existence. you can dream. but when your dreams twist your perception to one that is harmful to yourself and others...

Apples338 • 1 year ago

Isn’t it crazy I can read an interesting analysis as this and hop over to a different topic but analyzing that similarly is taboo? Namely child genitalia mutilation, where adults reinforce certain delusions, or their own, onto a child to harm the child, which is basically another …

Billy Bob • 1 year ago

Maybe the only way to make sense of the world and see it in a proper light is through a lens of insanity

I've seen you comment on different animes a lot of times but I always forgot to ask this. Who's that guy in your pfp? He's so hot.❤

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

It's Ban from Nanatsu no Taizai (Seven Deadly Sins)

Chuuya's fancy hat • 1 year ago

1trickpony • 1 year ago

Rampo is quite scary to be honest. Even enemies who know what he can do make him a priority target.

Katsura Kotaro • 1 year ago

If you think about the metaphor he was using, he definitely saw through this. Why he didn't tell Furukawa is the question.

ochki • 1 year ago

Maybe he left note for him when he put back that front door board that he bumped while walking out.

wwlaos • 1 year ago

Ranpo kawaii! Also a pain in the ass! XD

Back then anime ending songs mostly started playing a few seconds before the episode ended. It’s rarely done nowadays. I’m happy bsd still does that. It kinda has a nostalgic feeling to it

Literally Done • 1 year ago

Yess I absolutely love that!! That's honestly why the first ending of BSD became my favorite ending all-time. They made me cry by using the first ending at last episode of the second season. Totally didn't see it coming and a wave of nostalgia hit me so incredibly hard. Luck Life also is top-tier when it comes to those melancholic guitar notes at the start of the song
